For over eight years we have had a heart and vision to have a home where we could bring people in to live as part of our family, people who have been bruised and battered by life. Offering them an opportunity to find healing and a new way of life. Providing them with an environment where they are safe from the things that have caused them pain and hurt in the past, but also a place where they are free to find freedom from that past. A place where they can explore the Christian faith in a non-threatening and religious way.
In September the Lord made it possible for us to take a couple of people who we had been working with into our home.
The first was a young guy who had been homeless, he had given his life to the Lord in the summer. He came in and stayed with us for a couple of months. Morning Star helped him find full time employment. He has now moved on into more independent accommodation.
The second person a young women also came to live with us. Sharon who gave her life to in July 2004, but was unable to stay off alcohol. It was a case of the spirit was willing but the flesh was weak. Having had a history of drug problems, in the last couple of years she had managed to kick the drug habit, but substituted it for alcohol. In September Sharon was admitted to hospital for sever liver problems, she was told by one consultant that she only had three months to live, she was also warned that one more alcoholic drink could kill her.
We took Sharon straight from the hospital and brought her home into a family environment. Weighing in at a tiny 7stone 2lb she was very thin and very weak, and sleeping a lot during the day. As the days and weeks have passed, Sharon has found new life as a Christian, her faith is growing, every day she is learning more of God’s love and Grace, and how He can help her deal with the issues that crop up in life, that in the past would of had her reaching for a drink. Sharon is now up to the appropriate weight for her height and build, and has fallen in love with Jesus. God is bringing reconciliation between her and family members.
