Friends of Morning Star
“A small amount of money can add up to a world of difference”
Sharon’s Story
For many years I was in and out of rehab trying to change my life around, but there was an emptiness in my heart, and within a few months of coming out I would go back to using drugs and/or drinking heavily. My relationship with my family was in ruins; everyone had given up on me.
I first met Dave and Bev at the Banquet Run, in 2004, the great thing is I never felt judged by Bev or Dave. At one point I was given 3 months to live, my liver was in a very poor condition. Dave and Bev said that I could come and live with them, and they would help me learn to live without the aid of drugs and alcohol. I was so excited, a chance to live as part of a family, something I hadn’t had for a long time.
Now, I am enjoying life in a way I never did before. I have found a faith in God that has helped me to turn my life around. I no longer need drugs or alcohol.
I now work alongside Dave and Bev at Morning Star (Salisbury) overseeing the food for the Banquet Run and working with Bev to help women who find themselves in a similar situation as I was.
If it wasn’t for the work of Morning Star (Salisbury) I probably wouldn’t be here today. In the past my life was just broken and in bits, but now I look forward to the future with Hope and Peace in my heart.
Often people say to us:
“I would love to help you, but I work full-time” “If I lived a bit nearer, I would love to get involved” “I think the work you do is amazing, how could i help you”
Well now there is a way that you can help support the work of the charity, even if You can’t physically help us. As a small charity we are totally reliant on the generosity of our supporters and donors. We have now made this easier by introducing our
